Year 5 Rainforest Roadshow
On Thursday 9th of June, Year 5 were very fortunate to welcome naturalist Dave Shaw.
We had the opportunity to look at several different animals from the rainforest, including scorpions and spiders. As we have been studying the Amazon rainforest, it was a wonderful chance to question Dave about his first-hand experiences in the forest. In the afternoon we enjoyed several activities, including: tribal jewellery making, tribal face painting and observational drawing of various interesting artefacts. The highlight for some, or the most squeamish part, was when we could hold an extremely long millipede in our hand!
We were very proud with how engaged everyone was and the insightful questions they asked. It was also great to hear that some children now want to visit the Amazon rainforest themselves!
