Year 5 Tennis Tournament

On 26th of May 2016, James, Alicja, Sam and Josie went to Charnwood Tennis Club to play the final stage of the tennis tournament which runs yearly.

When we arrived we were not expecting to play doubles as we thought it was a singles tournament but despite that, Josie and Alicja stormed through the group games arriving in the semis. James and Sam, however, had to wait half an hour, as they were last on the timetable. When they finally played, they smashed their way through to the quarters. Both pairs won to get to the final. Josie and Alicja were nervous because they were playing the only team they lost to, but they found a useful tactic of hitting to the weaker player. They finally beat Shepshed High School 7-5, a very close, nail biting match. The boys too played well and soon reigned victorious as champions. Feeling proud of their achievements, the tennis players went home with gold medals hanging round their necks.
