Here at St. Bart’s, we promote a programme of study within Art, Design and Technology that allows the children to express their individual imagination, take risks and become resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. This is achieved through a progressive, skills-based approach. We provide the opportunity for the children to apply their skills by creating unique pieces of artwork or fulfilling a design brief meeting the D&T principles. All of the skills and techniques that we teach are inspired by well-known artists or designers, their style and their contribution to the development of Art, Design and Technology. We learn about these influential people and how they can help us to review and improve our own skillset. Our school is committed to nurturing pupils’ curiosity and creativity, as well as preparing them for living in a modern world where technology is rapidly changing and advancing.
The local area and outdoor environment that we have here at St. Bart’s provides stimulus for the children to express themselves. We work closely with the local community and have been involved with brightening up our village with the children’s artwork too.
