School Sports Funding

Following the highly successful 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics, the Government agreed to fund schools to improve their provision of PE and Games for primary school children. £150 million pounds was made available per annum for the next 5 years from 2013 and this money was ring fenced. Head teachers had the opportunity to decide where to target this money for the greatest impact on their school’s PE and Games. This money was provided jointly by the Department for Education, Health and Culture and Media and Sport.

At St. Bartholomew’s school we have invested the money in providing training for teachers in specific areas of the PE curriculum, in particular dance and gymnastics. We have also spent money on enhancing resources for both indoor and outdoor PE.
