Free School Meal Update - Autumn 2026

From Autumn 2026 the following changes have been made to Free School Meal (FSM) eligibility.  These updates mean that more families may now qualify for support, even if they were not eligible before.

Under the revised criteria, families may be entitled to Free School Meals if they receive one of the following:

  • Universal Credit with a household income below the updated threshold
  • Income Support or Income‑based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit without Working Tax Credit
  • Other qualifying benefits as outlined by the Department for Education

If you believe your circumstances may now meet the new criteria, we strongly encourage you to submit an application, even if your child is in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 and already receives Universal Infant Free School Meals.

Please visit Leicestershire County Council's Parents Portal to check their eligibility via the link below:

Free School Meals and other support for disadvantaged pupils - what you need to know

A cafeteria system operates and there is a good choice of dishes including salad and a vegetarian option. Dietary needs are well catered for; always ask if you have specific requirements.

The cost of school dinners from Summer 2026 is £2.90 per day / £14.50 per week.  Payment is made by our secure on-line system, Parent Pay. Please contact the school office for your personal login details and password. Payment should be made in advance as per our School Meal Debt Policy.

We expect good table manners and excellent behaviour in our school dining hall. Please ensure that your child can use a knife and fork correctly.

Children choose daily in class whether they are a hot lunch or packed lunch.

Children are well supervised during the lunch break by our team of Dining Supervisors and are encouraged to play a variety of different games. Play leaders from year 6 help with these and there are a number of clubs operating at lunchtime too.

Children are entitled to a happy and enjoyable lunchtime.

Below you will find copies of our current menu and the School Meal Debt Policy.
